Taking a cue from Kebbi’s green revolution

The picture you see above is my neighbour’s reaction to the material we published last Monday.

On Monday, we published the story about the green revolution in Kebbi State in which Governor Atiku Bagudu has initiated a program that would impact heavily on the environment in weeks, months and years to come. Leading the Governor’s wish of providing and distributing 40,000 trees across the state, is the Honorable Hayatudeen Bawa-led Ministry of Environment.

After reading the story, my neighbour said he must do something about what he had read. He said he would start with his first tree. And he did; he planted his first plantain tree outside the wall of his house.

For some people, 40,000 trees look like a pipe dream, but my neighbour would not be deterred. The first tree has gone into the ground. Surely, he is on his way. Or don’t you think so? I will definitely keep you posted on this.
