Check: Hong Kongians live the longest in the world. Their GDP per capita is higher than that of the United States. More of their young persons are in local universities than was ever the case. Maternal mortality and infant mortality are among the lowest in the world.

Yet Hong Kongians are among the unhappiest people in the world. And it is not because of the prolonged protests that have recently come to define the country. The stats were in those territories before the protests began. And the results may not be significant when the impact of the protests is added to the existing numbers. What are we missing?
