Two important and related events happened last week in Lagos and Ibadan but not many persons knew about the second event as much as they did the first event. The first event was the signing- ceremony of the new sponsorship deal between the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF and communications giant, MTN. While the second event was the finals of the Nigerian Blind Football Championships, which held at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan. The winners of the Championships, Bethesda Home for the Blind, will now represent Nigeria at the Regional Championships taking place in Ghana, this November. Success at the Regional Championships in Ghana means the exciting team from Bethesda Home for the Blind, will go on to represent Arican at the World Blind Football Championships taking place in China, next year.
Can the recent NFF-MTN sponsorship deal be extended to the Blind Football Championship in Nigeria, for the following reasons?
- To encourage those our sons and brothers in ways that cannot be put into words
- To spread the love for the game
- To remind those with sight about that we all are blind in some non-sight ways
- To extend the brotherhood/sisterhood of the game
