Nigeria’s E-shock you! ran with Elaine Thompson-Herah and Lamont Marcell Jacobs to win 2020 Tokyo Olympics 100m finals

Lament not for Nigeria’s outing so far at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics Games. Neither weep for the ride of our athletes. The spirit of Nigeria’s authentic young people has shown her hands. Where did you see the spirit of Nigeria’s young people in Tokyo, some people may ask? And what is the name of the spirit, by the way?

E-shock you! that’s the name of Nigeria’s authentic young people’s spirit. She ran beside Elaine Thompson-Herah and Lamont Marcell Jacobs, winners of the 100m women and men’s finals respectively. And reminded those who forgot about her after she had burst on the scene in October of 2020, what she’s capable of achieving.

Mentioning Olympics superstar Usain Bolt and numerous others who did not think an E-shock you! moment was possible in Tokyo, is beside the point. The main point here is, E-shock you! Is on the loose. She may not have performed beside any Nigerian athlete so far but those who have ears to hear and eyes to see have got the message.

I doubt that many Nigerian youths will be shocked at the association of E-shock you! and Elaine Thompson-Herah and Lamont Marcell Jacobs. Some may wonder why charity did not begin from home instead of choosing Jamaica and Italy at this instant but the message will become clearer when they remember that for some, “The spirit blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes.”

Yet the most obvious moral from this musing and the strong statement made by E-shock you! In Tokyo, is that we are not to treat young people in such a way that grinds on their relentless side.
