He is no longer an adviser to Prime Minister Boris Johnson of the United Kingdom. Andrew Sabinsky, the ‘super forecaster’ resigned his appointment in February because he didn’t want to be a ‘distraction to the government.’
He calls reactions to his ‘old stuff online,’ ‘media hysteria.’
Below are four reasons he refused to apologise for the comments, which he made in 2016:
- Apologising for any action is hardly considered if doing otherwise does not threaten one’s wellbeing or survival
- It is easier to rationalise positions than to simply say, I am sorry
- Even with available evidence that points to the contrary, some of us just prefer to maintain status quo because of a false sense of stability which it gives
- Placed side by side, it is easier to hurt than to heal
