It’s been ages since Nigeria refined all the petroleum products it consumes. And the story of what happened when Nigeria started importing more petroleum products than it refines, is known to many, especially the unpleasant parts.

How many Nigerian moments will beat the occasion when the $12billion, 650,000barrels per day Dangote Petroleum Refinery is completed this year? How many will beat the moment when the Refinery commence full operations in early 2021?

Certainly, a dancing Aliko Dangote will be a feast for the eyes on the day; just as a dancing Elon Musk was a feast for the eyes last week in Shanghai, China, at the launch of Tesla’s model Y electric SUV. And just as Dangote’s friend Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer were at a Windows launch in 1990.

A dancing Dangote, moving his body spontaneously to the rhythm of his own beat is preferred to a dancing Dangote moving his body following a rehearsed routine. Or one that does not dance at all.

A dancing Dangote who has long identified with Nigerian artists and performers and chooses the moment to inspire them with some ‘moves,’ is preferred to one who does the regular.

A dancing Dangote who know too well that the reward for work is not perks and allowances but more work, is preferred to a Dangote who sees the moment as some kind of end in itself.

A dancing Dangote, might break sweat while doing the boogie. And that is really big deal. For all it symbolizes – effort, commitment, passion, thought, push, sacrifice, relentlessness and more

An emotional Dangote suddenly removing the tether on his imagination and letting it roam freely on the wider implications of what he and his people have accomplished, is better than one who keeps the tether on his imagination on the day.
